CIVIL ENGINEERING

Program Details

Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering has been in existence since 2009 with intake of 60 seats. Civil Engineering is considered to be the oldest engineering field. It includes the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the infrastructure that surrounds us. Our infrastructure includes roads, airports, railroads, buildings, bridges, water and waste water treatment plans, sewers, drainage, flood control, water supply and many other facilities. Most everything civil engineers do affect our daily lives in many ways.

Vision

To mould civil engineering students with an emphasis on value-based education through technological innovations, teamwork, and skills for the growth of society.

Mission

To develop well-equipped laboratories and infrastructure for conducive teaching-learning environment.

To prepare students with effective communication skills, professional ethics and leadership qualities.

To promote innovative practices in the field of Civil Engineering.

To mentor students for innovative thinking with relevance to entrepreneurship.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO1: The graduates shall be able to engage themselves to achieve expertise to solve real-world problems by modern Civil Engineering tools and techniques.

PEO2: The graduates shall be able to develop leadership, resource management skills and exhibit good teamwork in multidisciplinary projects.

PEO3: To produce Civil engineering graduates who can excel in their professional career and/or higher education by acquiring knowledge in basic engineering principles.

PEO4: The graduates shall be able to pursue Technological Innovations and Advancements.

PEO5: The graduates shall be able to serve Industry with professional Ethics and society with moral responsibilities

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO1: The Civil Engineering Graduate will be able to apply technical skills and modern engineering tools for civil engineering day to day practice

PSO2: The Civil Engineering Graduate will be able to use effective communication skills and shoulder accountability in a professional role as a Civil Engineer independently or as a team-member/team-leader in society.

Labs

The laboratory of Highway engineering in civil department is well equipped with all the required instruments and equipments that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student. We have all the instruments such as Marshall Stability, CBR, Los angles abrasion instrument etc.
The Environmental Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering provides good testing and teaching facilities. The Laboratory has sophisticated equipments to analyze pollution parameters in water and waste water, soil and air. The sophisticated instrument list includes:pH meter,Water bath,Muffle furnace, Naphelometer turbidity meter, High volume sampler, Autoclave,BOD incubator,Electronic balance,Conductivity meter,COD digester,Exhaust gas analyzer.
Surveying Laboratory provides students with hands-on experience to supplement instruction in surveying courses. The Surveying Laboratory has a wide variety of modern surveying equipment, such as GPS-based surveying equipment, total stations, Digital theodolites, and automatic levels for basic instructional and research purposes. Undergraduate students use the laboratory as an integral part of their surveying coursework and obtain any topographic information that can help their capstone design projects, such as highway design and land development.
The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering provides good teaching facilities. The Laboratory has following equipments Verification of Bernoulli’s Theorem Losses in Pipes Apparatus (Minor Losses Apparatus Pipe Friction Apparatus (Major Losses) Metacentric Height of Ship Model,Pressure Measurement Apparatus Orifice & Mouthpiece Apparatus,Notch Apparatus,Flow Measurement by Venturimeter & Orifice meter,Turbulant Flow Apparatus Pitot Tube Apparatus,Forced and Free Vortex Apparatus Tilting Flume,Capillary Tube Viscometer Apparatus Darcys law Apparatus,Reynolds number Apparatus HELESAW MODEL ,Laboratory Electrical Analog Apparatus
Building construction is a traditional science which deals with the modern method of sound construction incorporating appropriate use of materials, sufficient strength and permanence, maximum utility, and good proportion and grace. The aim of the building construction practical is to acquaint civil engineers, architects, builders, contractors, with the basics principles as well as current design practices in the construction of building.
Laboratory provides students with hands-on experience to supplement instruction in surveying courses. The Element of Civil Engineering Laboratory has a wide variety of equipment, such as automatic levels, Compass, Dumpy Level etc for basic instructional purposes.
